    1. [NORCAL] 1940 Census Glitche on Ancestry
    2. Susan Stuart
    3. Hi everyone, I know that all of you don't belong to Ancestry, but I thought I'd pass along my recent interaction with them in case it helps anyone. Ancestry says that you can't attach the 1940 census to anyone until it is indexed, but you can attach the web link to their profile page. I did this with my grandfather and it worked fine, however, when I tried to attach it to grandma and the kids, I got an error message and it wouldn't let me. I spent over 40 minutes on the phone with Ancestry yesterday afternoon and they couldn't solve this problem. My representative got her supervisor involved and they really tried. They even pulled up my grandpa's profile page and went through the process of trying to attach it to Grandma, and no dice. They finally decided they were going to have to file an internal report, and promised me an email with an update. Today, I tried to attach the web link to my husband's grandmother (she is head of household) and I got the same error message. I'm just going to hope that when they solve the one problem, it solves the other. In the meantime, you can save the jpg of the census page to your computer, which I highly recommend because after going through 34 of 66 pages to find the family, I wouldn't want to lose it and have to do it again! 3. At least your grandma was in the census! Somehow the enumerator didn't take note that my grandparents had an 8 year old daughter. Someone at NORCAL said that sometimes the emunerator wouldn't list someone if they weren't home. My great grandmother was home every day and took care of my mother while grandma was teaching school. You don't think Grandma is going to forget to mention her 8 year old granddaughter? Pretty bad census taking. Mom felt "left out." She turns 80 this year. I hope she's around for the 1950 census!   Let us know if Ancestry can fix the glitch. I do have Ancestry.   Thanks in advance,   Dean From: Susan Stuart <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2012 6:14 PM Subject: [NORCAL] 1940 Census Glitche on Ancestry Hi everyone, I know that all of you don't belong to Ancestry, but I thought I'd pass along my recent interaction with them in case it helps anyone.
