Kent Services: Thurs., Dec. 30, 11 a.m. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at University Baptist Church, 2515 Church Ave., for James W. Kent, 85, who passed away Dec. 27 in Bakersfield. Rev. Charles Revus will officiate. Private family graveside services were held earlier. Mr. Kent was born Oct 22, 1914 in Allegan, Michigan to Earl and Jessie Porter. The family soon moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where James attended elementary school, Central High School and later the University of Illinois. In 1950 he started selling fork lifts for the Clark Equipment Company moving in 1950 to California. Throughout the years, he was employed by several different companies always selling quality fork lifts, retiring in 1983. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed. He was a member of University Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothea; daughters Diana Wolfe and husband Robert, Judi Hall and husband Randy; son, David James Kent and Stephanie. James also had six grandchildren, Kathryn, Suzanne, Hollianne, Terry, Megan and Drew; and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p..m.
