Lars, Yes, I agree that the Howard Elder on the CADI isn't yours. However, he was the only one listed. I tried to access the American Battle Monument Commision's website last night to see if your Howard died in the first world war. However, I kept getting an error message that the website is not loading properly. I tried with 3 different browsers, but still got the same message. The Howard Elder in the 1920 census says his parents are both from Switzerland. It made me wonder if he was the correct Howard. I just tried now and the abmc website came up finally!! No Howard Elder listed there. That doesn't mean he didn't die in that war, just that if he did, it wasn't on foreign soil. Sharon Kern Co. In a message dated 8/21/2013 10:59:26 A.M. I doubt very much he be the one you found dead in Los Angeles, CA; neither the age nor the middle initial seem to "match". He must have moved from CA after 1920, but where..., only God knows...? I was so happy as this message showed up on my screen, and I tried at once to search the CADI 1905-2000 on ancestry.com, only to discover, it isn't there! So, apparently, I have to continue counting on assistance from you to look up people in the CADI for the period from 1905 thru 1939. Then it is a good thing, however, that FamilySearch has published (for free) so many great marriage licenses from the early 1900's, in particular from Los Angeles Co., CA! Very sincerely yours, Lars E. Oyane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
