There was a good deal of mining in southern Ca as well. There is/was a newspaper called the Acton Rooster I believe in Los Angeles Co. that had a lot of mining news for about that time frame. marilyn ________________________________ From: Lars Oyane <loya@online.no> To: Margie <twigsnbranches@earthlink.net>; norcal@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2013 9:56 AM Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Howard Morton Elder, born FL 1876 - in California 1920 - what became of him? - CADI? Dear Sharon, RoseMary, Margie, Roland and other Listers! Thank you very much to all of you for additional comments on Howard Elder, his occupation, where he lived, on the life at Trona, CA etc. It is interesting to me since I have NEVER been in California myself, and yet so many descendants of "my" Norwegian emigrant families have ended up there! l My guess is, as I have already said, that Howard Elder probably left CA shortly after 1920. Maybe he went to mine in NV, NM or CO? Too bad there aren't any good death indexes for any of these "mining" states... Well, let's hope he'll show up somewhere, sooner or later...! Very sincerely yours, Lars E.
