    3. Dear Sharon and other Listers! Thank you very much, Sharon, for interesting messages in regard to Howard Elder. I doubt very much he be the one you found dead in Los Angeles, CA; neither the age nor the middle initial seem to "match". He must have moved from CA after 1920, but where..., only God knows...? I was so happy as this message showed up on my screen, and I tried at once to search the CADI 1905-2000 on ancestry.com, only to discover, it isn't there! So, apparently, I have to continue counting on assistance from you to look up people in the CADI for the period from 1905 thru 1939. Then it is a good thing, however, that FamilySearch has published (for free) so many great marriage licenses from the early 1900's, in particular from Los Angeles Co., CA! 3. Just a tip. Do not assume that the middle initial or age on the website are correctly transcribed online unless you have ordered a copy of the record. For a long time I assumed the same thing about a distant grandmother. It said that granny was 63 instead of 89 and her middle initial was O instead of B, and the last name was also "off". A few years later when I broke down and ordered a copy, (my parents had attended her funeral so I knew exactly where she died and was buried) the handwriting on it was atrocious, but her parents names (not listed on line) as well as her birthday etc, were correct, as well as the name of her grandchild that signed the record. They were just misread during transcription. This is also the case with census, it evidently didn't matter in some locations how lousy your handwriting or spelling was, you could take down census information if you were literate. Go figure. :-) Just thoughts. -----Original Message----- From: norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Lars Oyane Sent: Wednesday, August 21, 2013 11:04 AM To: norcal@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Howard Morton Elder, born FL 1876 - in California 1920 - what be...
