    3. The Contra Costa Gazette Martinez, Contra Costa County, California Saturday, 2 October 1875 ************************************* THIEVERY - On Wednesday, Sept 29th, the house of Mr. James R. NORCOTT, near Bull�s Head, was entered and robbed of powder and shot, powder flask and shot-pouch, silver shield on flask and pouch with �J. NORCOTT� engraved. Mr. NORCOTT was absent at the Fair. While waiting in Martinez in the evening for the tide to rise, his new fishing boat was stolen from the wharf. Warrants issued, but as yet no arrests have been made. STABBING AFFRAY - A dispute occurred in Concord on Wednesday evening between W.L. HUSTON and Ed. VAN DORN, respecting a business transaction that had taken place between the parties during which HUSTON struck the latter, VAN DORN immediately drew a small butcher knife and inflicted a wound in HUSTON�s side which was at first supposed to be fatal, but is now regarded as not particularly dangerous. VAN DORN was arrested and held for examination. MT.
