We don't want happy snails. ________________________________ From: "norcal-request@rootsweb.com" <norcal-request@rootsweb.com> To: norcal@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, July 3, 2013 6:38 PM Subject: NORCAL Digest, Vol 8, Issue 175 I grew up in East Oakland near Mills College; great place at the time except for WWII. I recall San Lorenzo as a development for GIs and did not realize it had an earlier history. What I do remember is that the nearby city was always "SallyAndro", descending tone with slight emphasis on An. Same with Mt. SaintaLena, descending tone with slight emphasis on Len [pronounced as lean]. That was how I could tell a native Californian. Niles Canyon is still a great drive but it has been several years since I've spent much time there. cheers, Gard NORCAL LIBRARY http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/norcallib.html ----------------------------------------- NORCAL ARCHIVES: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Enter NORCAL.
