BORN - NEWSTAEDTER - In Concord, Nov. 27th, to Mr.&Mrs. B. NEWSTAEDTER, a daughter. BORN - BERNAL - In Concord, Nov. 28th, to Mr.&Mrs. Jesus BERNAL, a son. DIED - SMITH - At his residence in Livermore, Nov. 24th, Henry C. SMITH, a native of Ohio, aged 51 years. [The deceased was one of the prominent early pioneer settlers of this section, and leaves a number of children and other relatives surviving him in this and Alameda county.] DROWNED at ANTIOCH - At Antioch on Friday of last week an unknown man, in a state of intoxication, walked into the river from the steamer ‘Tulare,’ which was lying at the wharf, and was drowned before assistance could reach him. The deceased is described as a middle aged, dark complexioned man, about 5 feet 10 inches in height. UNDER SHERIFF - It is the current report that our ex-Sheriff Henry CLASSEN, now a Deputy of the Sheriff of San Francisco, is to be the 1st under-officer of Mr. WILKENING, our Sheriff elect. PROBATE COURT - -In the matter of the Guardianship of Geo. W. BAILEY and C.A. BAILEY, minor children of Geo. W. BAILEY, deceased, Clara E. BAILEY, guardian of said minor, was authorized to sell certain real estate of said minors at private sale after giving notice as directed in the order. -Estate of Henry L. FARLAND, deceased.
