Dear Listers, I have yesterday made an interesting discovery in California where I require some assistance from you experts on California research: Lillian Mary VANDERBLOEMEN, born in Stoughton, WI Feb. 8, 1920 to Dutch/Norwegian parents, moved at a young age to Los Angeles, CA where she worked as a waitresson Nov 14, 1945 she married 1st time to: Russell Francis HIGGINS, born in Providence, RI Oct. 11, 1922 who appears to have been in the US Navy from 1942 until 1956. Russell and Lillian were divorced, and Russell remarried twice (or maybe three times) both in Imperial and Los Angeles Cos., CA in 1960 to Olga Bumann Leatherdale and in Alameda Co., CA in 1969 to Sandra Vilhauer. He was divorced from the latter in 1970, also in Alameda Co., CA, and he died Feb. 14, 1972, unknown where. I don't see him in the CADI. Lillian also remarried, I don't know when or where, to one (according to family): Carl "Tony" CAFARO, who is thought to have been a seaman of some kind. They also divorced after a short marriage, and according to the CADI Lillian died in Contra Costa Co., CA on Apr. 30, 1977, while family says she died at Sausalito, Marin Co., CA. At any rate, she was a resident of San Pablo, Contra Costa Co., CA at the time she died! There are TWO Tony Cafaros in California about the same age: 1) Tony Frank CAFARO, born in ID Apr. 23, 1917, grew up in Spokane WA, died at Chula Vista, San Diego Co., CA Nov. 22, 1990. I have found two marriages for him: his 2nd marriage in Los Angeles, CA Jan. 13, 1953 to Mrs. Pauline Stewart Arburua, and his last marriage in San Diego, CA Feb. 14, 1971 to Dorothy L. Howard Oldfather, who was also his wife when he died. 2) Antonio "Tony A." CAFARO, born in Los Angeles, CA Jul. 23, 1915, died at Lancaster, Los Angeles Co., CA Jan. 5, 2003. He married about 1939 a Dorothy NN, born in KS about 1916/1917 and show up in the 1940 census as well as in the 1942 voter registration list for Los Angeles, CA. Dorothy appears to be gone by 1944. In 1972 Tony resided at Rosamond in Kern Co., CA, returning to Lancaster, Los Angeles Co., CA in the late 1980's. I don't find any Carl CAFARO who "match". What I am trying to find out: ** Year of divorce for Lillian and Russell Higgins? ** Place of death for Russell Francis Higgins (1972)? ** Russell Higgins' occupation? ** Date and place of marriage for Lillian and Tony Cafaro? ** Identification of the "correct" Tony Cafaro? ** Year of divorce for Lillian and Tony Cafaro? ** Tony Cafaro's occupation?
