I knew a family of Hasenbuhlers in Stockton, Charles and Thomas. One married a friend from high school. It was never said but the father in the family I assumed was dead. The mother was around but I don't remember her name. This might have been the grandfather. I don't have contact with the family any longer but last time I checked they still lived there. So the spelling has probably evolved.
