Nancy,   Since Victoria does not appear in CABI and if the father was unavailable due to being in the military, I would suggest the mother went home to be with her mother in Memphis for the birth.   The second daughter's birth was announced in the Galveston Daily News, 5/21/1950, page 18. (Ancestry.com) § Renee June Lowrie     Mr. and Mrs. Elston Lowrie of Memphis, Tenn., announce the birth of a daughter, Renee June, on May 15 or 18 (I can't tell if the last digit is a 5 or 8) in Memphis. Grandmothers are Mrs. G. E. Lowrie of Galveston and Mrs. Irene R. Patton of Memphis.     Mrs. G. E. Lowrie is visiting in Memphis. § Sadly, I see that the Tennessee, Death and Burials Index, 1874-1955 on Ancestry shows that she died on June 13, 1950   It is possible the Victoria's birth was also announced in the Galveston Daily News, but I couldn't find it. I did see several articles covering the travels of Mrs. G. E.
