    3. Thanks to all for their input. My only experience had been with an adoption from a children's home with neither parent involved and it resulted in the original birth certificate being sealed. That was in Iowa and it would appear the basics are pretty much the same. 2. There was a stepparent adoption in my family tree during the late 1940's in San Francisco.  The birth hospital remained the same, but a totally new birth certificate was issued without any detail - including the mothers  maiden name! ----- Original Message ----- From: "flavia hodges" <flavia1418@gmail.com> To: norcal@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 3:20:05 PM Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Adoption Thanks to all for their input.  My only experience had been with an adoption from a children's home with neither parent involved and it resulted in the original birth certificate being sealed.  That was in Iowa and it would appear the basics are pretty much the same. 3. This is almost my story, except it does contain mother's name, but no hospital and we are wondering about the birth State...the certificate has Oregon, but we are almost certain the birth was in Stockton, CA.
