This obit was in the Contra Costa Times: Resident of Livermore Edward Alvin Lafranchi died unexpectedly on February 5, 2014 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was a long time resident of Livermore and one of the earliest employees of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory eventually retiring as Deputy Associate Director of the Engineering Department in 1991. Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years Ann (nee Rogers), his three sons Bruce (Judy) of New York, Mark of Walnut Creek, and Paul (Mary Jo) of Torrance, four grandchildren, Brian, Brendan, Daniel and Melissa, and a large extended family. He was the son of Fridolino and Zelma (nee Dolcini) and was predeceased by his siblings Estella, Wilfred, Henry and Arthur. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, from 4 to 8pm at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue, Livermore, including a Vigil service at 7pm. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, 11am Monday February 10 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 458 Maple Street. The family prefers memorials to St. Michael School, Valley Care Health Library, Santa Clara University or a charity of your choice.
