    3. I am another of the ‘silent’ members of Norcal. My father’s family members came to Amador County and San Jose and Hollister area from the 1850s on. They are of Italian and Austrian (Croatian) descent. My mother’s family are all from other parts of the country, more recently (1800s and 1900s), Arizona, Utah and Ohio and before that, the south. I do enjoy reading what others have to say. 3. So glad to be reading from other NORCALERS again. I moved to the Deep South (Alabama) in 1963 in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement. My ancestor was a gold miner in the Gold Rush and came to California in 1849. Married my gr-grandmother in Nevada City. I have their marriage license. Still have family in Roseville and look forward to visiting California (Tahoe) in June. Suzanne -- researching Nickell, Wyllie, Sigwalt, Franks in the Colfax area. -----Original Message----- From: norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robert Budman Sent: Saturday, April 19, 2014 5:45 PM To: Marciel Wood; Norcal Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Is anybody there I am another of the 'silent' members of Norcal. 3. Hello everyone, I forgot who started this, but good for you and thanks to Jan for the additional suggestion of a "roll call" and reminder!  Very cool. I have a huge, long list of Swiss Italians who settled in Marin and Sonoma, including Filippini, Dado, Gambonini, etc.  I am also researching my husband's family, Moore from Nova Scotia to Marin and Alameda, and the surnames Woods and Marshall. I think it was around 1998 or so when I stumbled on this list, which was very active back then.  I was a complete and total newbie, and lurked without knowing that was a word or really an option.  (I didn't even know how to use 'reply' yet!)  I learned almost all of my 'netiquette' from this list, which included some reprimands from Yvonne :) and have had a blast with many of you over the years bouncing thoughts around and sharing ideas. Thanks to all. Susan  ________________________________
