    3. My Phillip Jacob Bastian was born near Philadelphia and was sent out to Tioga and Lycoming as a teenager to fight Indians supported by the British in the American Revolution. I descend from his son, Benjamin who died very young in 1828, leaving three small children who were raised by Jacob, Benjamin's brother. One of those was my great-great grandfather, Louis Bastian. He married Dorothea Moyer about 1848. They moved to Wisconsin about 1860. His son Gideon was born 1853 in Pennsylvania, raised in Wisconsin and followed his Preston in-laws to California about 1892. My grandfather was born in San Jose in 1899 and my dad in 1924. As near as I can tell, the Germans and English settlers kept separate settlements in Tioga County. EdrieAnne
