Ukiah Daily Journal Friday, November 1, 1996 John Louis Bottani SAN LEANDRO -- John Louis Bottani of Ukiah, died Friday oct. 25, 1996, from burns suffered in a July 11 McNab Ranch Road fire. He was 77. Bottani was born aug. 19, 1919, in Albion, and was a lifelong Mendocino County resident. A retired operating engineer, he was a Fort Bragg Food Bank volunteer, and a member of Redmen's Lodge, Santana Tribe No. 60. Bottani served with the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He is survived by his wife Doris R. Bottani of Ukiah; children Marc and Kim Bottani, Butch and Karen Gupta and Chris and Debbie Stensgard, all of Ukiah; Abel Ferrira of San Diego; and Danny Bottani and Dennis and Lynn Bottani, all of Napa. Two sisters, Alma Reifers and Evelyn Colombi, both of Fort Bragg, and a brother, Inez Ellison of Fort Bragg, also survive, as do 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and foster children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruno Bottani, and by a sister, Vivian Costa. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Oceanview Cemetery in Fort Bragg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Bragg Food Bank, Fort Bragg Fire Department, or the Brookside Hospital Burn Center, 2000 Vaile Rd., San Pablo, CA 94806.
