LOWDEN and heirs, 19.83 acres of land which will be set aside as a recreational area and will eventually be made into a recreational ground for the City of Weaverville. The land includes the ball park, campgrounds and as far north boundary of the town site. The committee consisting of J.J.JACKSON, HENRY DANNENBRINK and B.R.BROWN, deserve much credit in bringing this important deal to a close. 2] HAL. E. GOODYEAR, local plumber, has started building a modern 3- room cottage on the lot he recently purchased from LEONARD M. MORRIS on Waterworks Street. 3] H.L. BARNES, painter, recently purchase a lot from Judge C.A.PAULSEN on Garden Guch Street. He expects to start construction soon. 4] Mr. & Mrs. WALTER J.P. VAN MATRE plan to build a modern 5-room cottage on the lt they recently purchased from Mrs. VAN MATRE's mother, Mrs. NELLIE JUNKANS, on Taylor Street. 50 yrs ago. 21, April 1960. Thursday. 1] Construction of the Wvvle Community swiming pool started Thursday, 14 April by the Butte Creek Rock Co. of Chico. Completion of the Olympic size pool, 42 feet by 82 feet, is scheduled within 45 days. 2] The State Division of Highways {CAL-TRANS} has called for bids for constuction of a cottage,garage,and other facilities at the Buckhorn maintenance Station, about 25 miles West of Redding. (This faclity has since been dismantled). 3] Mr.& Mrs. CHARLES PARKAN d family traveled to Los ANGLES to spend EASTER with Charlie's mother. They returned home Monday. 4] Guests at the home of the JOSEPH TOY home for Easter will be the ROBERT MUIR family. 5] CARLENE WESTMORELAND, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. HORACE WESTMORELAND was selected as a member of the Grand Executive Board of the Rainbow Girls, at their recent Grand Assembly in San Jose. Thursday. 1] A rescue was made of 2 Arcata residence in deep snow at SWIFT CREEK trailhead near Trinity Center. The Trinity Search and Rescue team , lead byTOM BRADFORD and P.G.&E employee BOB AMUMDSON driving the P.G.& E.'s snow cat. They were cross-country skiing and snow camping trip when they were reportedly overdue. If the pair had not been found at the trail head, plans were being made to continue the search on skis. 2] An ambulance was requested in Lewiston to assist a deputy reporting an injury on Goose Ranch Road. It seems that a victum had suffered burns from a pot of hot beans being spilt on him, causing 1st degree burns. 3] The average high temperature for this week was 84, low 38.
