It will resut in much good, although by the farmers and gardners it was not warmly welcomed. The weaher had been cool for the past two days past, and water froze on Wed. and Thur. nights. 2] RYAN's Easter Monday Ball, is set for next Monday night. Mr. RYAN has endeavored to ticket all the ladies in Wvlle and adjacent places, and if any oversiht in so doing has occured, he hopes it will be overlooked, and will nt deter any from being present. 3] California Manufactured Matches - J.T. HAVILAND & Co., of Sacramento, have established a perscussion match manufactory in that City where they are manufacturing a superior article, which neither time nor dampness will have affect. We have recieved a package of them, have tried them well and find them as good as represented in every respect. 4] Mr. MOSES V. BROWN returned by the last steamer with his wife, and arrived here on Wednesday night. 125 yrs ago. 04, April 1885. Saterday. 1] The month of March has been one of exceptinal dryness, the total rain fall for the month, 15/100 of an inch. The past few days have been showery, the ainfall aggregating to 1.06 inches makeing a total for the season to date of 25.77 inches...(Note of interest:04/08/10, rainfall to date, 51.86 inches) 2] Many old residents here are now alluded to as "tender-feet". Roller skateing is what is the matter, sore feet being quite common! 3] There are a great many men going to the mines at New River/White Rock City/Denny area of Trinity and a few are comming out. There are many men in the mines- proably not less than 500 at this time. White Rock City is improving rapidly, the hotel is crowded and the saloons are in full blast. Our correspondent writes, "Pack trains are arriving almost daily; grub is getting more plentyful, but somehow the supply of whiskey don't fill the demand." 100 yrs ago. 02, April, 1910. Saterday. 1] S.C.MILLER, proprietor of the Snug Restaurant, has just recieved a new National Electric cash register, which will be installed in his place of business. It is one of the most modern in make, being operated by electricity. Whenever the drawer is open to deposit cash, 2 electric bulbs at the top of the machine flash a bright light. 2] On the 25th, Chairman of the Board LOWDEN, Dictrict Attorney GIVEN, and Auditor CARTER, counted the money in the county treasury and found the same correct. 3] Rainfall for the week, .66 inches, rainfall to date is 33.15 inches, to same date last year 44.25 inches. 4] Miss MAGGIE McDONALD has recieved an appointment as copyist in the county clerk's office and commenced work on Thursday. ~ end ~Linda~ Willow Creek, CA.
