    1. [NORCAL] The lost 1906 Street Film.............. Very special!
    2. George Patterson
    3. I received this from a cousin who is also on NORCAL. I have not verified if it really is a "lost" film but it is certainly interesting. George This film was "lost" for many years. It was the first 35mm film ever. It was taken by camera mounted on the front of a cable car The amount of automobiles is staggering for 1906. Absolutely amazing! The clock tower at the end of Market Street at the Embarcadero wharf is still there. (I'm also wondering ... How many "street cleaning" people were employed to pick up after the horses? Talk about going green!) Great historical film worth watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=NINOxRxze9k

    3. George I had seen this before, but every time I view it I see something new. I think I see a 1905 Thomas Flyer (40 HP) zipping across the tracks at one point. I looked it up and found that it sold for $3,000 in 1905. That is a whopping $75,500 in 2009 dollars using the CPI. Obviously, there were some very wealthy people in SF at this time. I wonder how many of those cars survived the Fire! Paul On Sat, Apr 3, 2010 at 4:14 AM, George Patterson < georgepatterson@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > I received this from a cousin who is also on NORCAL.
