Further research seems to lead to a relationship with someone the estate or house of the wealthiest family in the area. This seems to have started the rumor of a Prince from the royal family fathering a child. See if you can find a royal family in the area of your search. If not it may have been a very wealthy family in the area and the castle a grand house that was much admired by those with less. Perhaps it set better to have the thought of being rejected by the Royal family than just having an illegitimate child. I think this was the case with our search subject. Barb s

    3. There is an Ambrose born about 1848 in Baden and residing in Lancaster, Lancaster, PA on the 1870 US Census. Probably unmarried at that time.
