HAMMOND, of Grangeville, returned recently from a 10 days trip to Templeton, San Luis Obispo county, where he went to attend the funeral of his father. He arrived a little too late to see his father alive. The latter was aged 67 years. Mr. HAMMOND reports that crops of grain over in San Luis Obispo county will be good. Grain is nearly the entire crop over there. There is, Mr. HAMMOND says, going to be quite an emigration this year from there owing to the country being too dry, and as Kings county has a good reputation with the people beyond the Coast Range, no doubt many could be induced to come here and locate if the advantages of the county and the reasonable prices for land now ruling was brought to their attention. [from Local Paragraphs column] -- Sarah E. THOMPSON, of Lemoore, was recently granted a divorce from J.F. THOMPSON, and given the possession of a minor child and allowed $10 per month alimony. ------------------------------------------------------ A WOMAN WITH A MISSION -- We have been requested to publish the following notice: "Dr. Sarah Ann PATTERSON can cure melancholy insanity -- the so-called incurable kind of insanity; also big-headed children and obesity. All inquires and letters promptly answered by the doctor, whose address is Traver, Tulare Co., Cal." Mrs. PATTERSON is an elderly woman from Traver, who says she has a mission. A phrenologist who came to Traver a year or so ago, examined her head and told her she could cure melancholy insanity and that she is the only person in the world who could do it. She proposes not only to cure such cases, but to establish a hospital in some town in the San Joaquin Valley and wants bids from the different places for the location of it, and the town which gives the most will secure it. This is the chance of Hanford's existence and we expect to see our wealthy men come forward and aid this beneficent enterprise and make our city world famous. All other papers in the San Joaquin Valley are requested to publish Mrs. PATTERSON's notice. ------------------------------------------------------- LOCAL PARAGRAPHS -- -O.B.
