I just realized that I didn't fully answer your question. The San Joaquin River is near the town of San Joaquin and at one time it may have been closer but because rivers are not static, it could have changed it's path many, many times in the last 100-150 years. My grandparents were supposedly married there but it just as well could have been San Joaquin County. One of the things I still have to check out.
