HI Listers, Could someone help us, a lady has asked for a "solid" death date for a ancestor of hers who lived in Trinity Co. or may have been born there. Here is the person of question: KESTER, John A. (aka:"Pony"). b: after 1838,< may have well been born in Vermont>. d: 04, January 1886, Hayfork,Trinity Country. As transcribed on his headstone. But a conflicting news article says the death date is 1866. Was shot by his brother on a placer claim in Hayfork, Trinity County. I need another way of confirming the date..somewhere we have a transcription error... Going to check the Great Register of Trinity Co. Any help would be appreciated. ~Linda~ Willow Creek, CA.
Hi Linda. If he was in the 1870 and 1880 census then he would not have died in 1866 right? That might help.
