    3. >From news back then: 11, February 1960 Thursday. 1] Hwy 299 was closed Tuesday night by a mud slide just west of Salyer, but was opened by 7:30a.m. Wednesday, with one-way traffic n some places. 2] Last weeks storm dumped 8.30 inches of rain in the Valley's and foothills and added several feet of snow to the high country. More rain ad snow is predicted the weekend. Rainfall to date is 22.19 inches. Normal at the end of February is 26.00. 3] The Board of Trustees of the Trinity County High School has ordered installation of seat Belts in all their vehicles, except school buses. Use of belts will now be mandatory. 4] The Swimming Pool Fund has a total of $15,535. High School students have scheduled a fundraiser variety show for 17, February, in the High School Gym. 25 yrs ago. 13, February 1985 Wednesday. 1] Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Citizen of the Year award. The award will be announced in April. 2] The Weaverville dump was reported to be on fire last Thursday. The Volunteer Fire Dept. was notified and quickly took care of the matter. 3] A Douglas City man recieved a broken finger when his 18985 Plymouth sedan hit black ice and skidded off Hwy 299 near Little Brown's Creek Road. 4] About 170 fourth, fifth and sixth graders at Weaverville Elementry School participated in a program "TREES FOR PEOPLE".
