Now there is a phrase I heard more than once while growing up - there was more than one way to skin a cat. As kids we were very upset when my uncle said this while he was laughing. Then he would say HE was a cat skinner. It wasn't until later that it was explained to me that he OPERATED A CATERPILLER - hence the term.
