    1. [NORCAL] 1880 census?
    2. I used to be able to access the 1880 census freely and easily on FamilySearch. I seem to be unable to access it there now. Every search for free 1880 census leads me back to Ancestry, which is not free. Where can I access the 1880 census, at least an index, free? Betty

    3. Betty,   Will be sending you copies off list.   Also, it appears that he died in Stockton, CA on 11/28/2003. I tried to bring up an obit, but the newspaper's (The Record in Stockton)website was having problems. The Park View Funeral Home (209-982-1611) handled the arrangements. It was published 12/20/2003. It was supposedly published in the Connecticut Post on 1/5/2004.   Bob  ________________________________ From: "scrapsbratt@aol.com" <scrapsbratt@aol.com> To: norcal@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, September 28, 2013 7:57 AM Subject: [NORCAL] 1940 Indian Rolls Would someone please look at the 1940 Indian Census Rolls for James Denman in CA? 3. Ancestry offers the 1880 census for free. You can get the original LDS data extraction but you can't see the images unless you pay. Heritage Quest does offer the images of most of the US Federal censuses, through many local libraries. 3. Betty: familysearch still has them - by name and not indexed as such. I use Heritage Quest which is free through most county libraries as the subscription is much too expensive for individuals. I collect library cards for that reason - each county provides online access to different databases - including newspapers. 3. Thanks Judie - This could come in handy..!! Do they have records of patients/residents who were there in previous years..?? You say "My Grandfather....." is this Jeremiah that we talked about lots - I don't remember his dying at Laguna Honda. That would be interesting to learn you found this additional info on him since we've talked about him... Or perhaps, I've forgotten.. - Later, Ruth ____________________ Ruth (Grady) Skewis ruth4527@surewest.net -----Original Message----- From: norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:norcal-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Judie Cook Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 11:53AM To: norcal@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Laguna Honda Hospital My grandfather died there in the early 40s.
