    3. I have found a lot of people's obits that I have searched for, along with articles, But they have the papers for the areas that I am searching in. I also have a subscription to newspaperarchives that I find useful for the areas I'm searching. The easiest way to see if it would be useful for you is to search for names and see what pops up< Sue C. Nampa,Id.

    3. I think one month subscriptions are very nice. I float between databases and one month subscriptions. It works very well, for me because I seem to be all about genealogy for a  while, then drift over to scrapbooking, sewing for my granddaughters or sewing for dolls for a few months. Then I'm back to my research. When I'm back, I concentrate on one family and use one database at a time. In the long run, although I pay more with monthly subscriptions, I pay less per year for all the subscriptions. 3. Betty - the time frame isn't stated here, but these might be places to check: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/251627/The-Hague http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_V,_Prince_of_Orange I found it necessary at times to 'think outside the genealogy box' and went to the available literature - once you get closer to a time frame and whether they WERE in the Netherlands - many people migrated from the Netherlands to Pennsylvania - mine did. Do all kinds of searches on Google and DO go down the various rabbit holes - can't get the rabbit without doing this. I have also had very good responses from the rootsweb mail lists in the Netherlands when looking for some of my early ancestors (I was searching for them in the mid 1600s and they were 'with the Royal family in exile' in the Netherlands during that time). Unfortunately, many records no longer exist in the Netherlands because of the bombing and fires during WW2 - HOWEVER, as we know in San Francisco from the 1906 earthquake and fire, some records can be found - some were 'hidden' in cellars and are now in archives so still can be searched - on site unfortunately, but sometimes a kind volunteer will go to the archives and do some digging for you. I had no language problem - Europeans are mostly fluent in multiple languages. Also, these vital records are 'beginning' to be transcribed - slowly - and will be available on the IGI. I am not holding my breath but do check from time to time. Also maybe someone else has a worldwide subscription to ancestry - the one I share with a cousin is only the basic UK. ancestry.uk: Name: Mary Anne Calvin Birth: abt 1857 - St George E, Middlesex, EnglandResidence: 1881 - St George in The East, London, England Also this with no date: Ireland, Index to Griffith's Valuation, 1848-1864 about Mary Anne Colvin Name: Mary Anne Colvin Location: Armagh, Killevy, Clogharevan, Village of Bessbrook Source Information: Heritage World Family History Services. Ireland, Index to Griffith's Valuation, 1848-1864 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2008. Original data: Valuation Books, 1848-1864. 3. Notice that you can quickly check the snippets - by clicking on the "Historical Newspapers" section and THEN doing your search. That brings up the snippets with no pitch to sign-up first. This lets you see the actual results on the page - confirming GenBank has your people before signing up.
