    3. Like I said Linda - follow the train tracks - the Wine Train crosses 29 at Trancas right about where Redwood Avenue starts west of 29. Check with the Napa Genie Society - they should have the old City Directories with their names. Margie-- Oh and By the way Linda ---- what is Malfatti???? Never heard of it. And I lived in Bloomfield surrounded by Italians. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Mock" <lindamock@webtv.net> To: <norcal@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 25, 2010 7:06 PM Subject: Re: [NORCAL] Napa Co. ~1930 Hi Margie, Paul, Thanks for the research help.. 3. I do recall the Nap-a-Nee building from trips thru Napa Co. to Lake Co. in the '40s.  My first thought is that it was out of town to the north and if you ask Google correctly it will show "Union" where Trancas crosses present 29.  Now it gets hazy [I have a photographic memory but the fixer is shot]. I recall it on the inside of a bend where the northbound hangs west and was out of town. If you ask Google nicely it will show "Union" where Trancas hits present 29. I believe that Main St. was 29 at the time and it cut west somewhere to the present alignment; that may be the location. That was quite a drive in the 40s at 35 or so mph.  Much was what we called "ramshackle" but much [can't say if it was most] of rural California was the same. It bothered us not at all. Now I look for it. cheers, Gard English doesn't borrow from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.     —Unknown

    3. Hi Linda I love a good historical search challenge, but I'm not sure I came up with what you are looking for. I found a book on Amazon entitled "Napa - The Transformation of an American Town" and it has quite a few preview pages. There is a Napanee in the book but it is (or was) the name of the Napa High School yearbook. There are 3 restaurants mentioned, The Depot, Walkers Restaurant, and the Red Hen Cantina Restaurant, but no Napa Nee or Napanee. You can do your own searches on the following page: http://tinyurl.com/ybsyqox It looks like an interesting read. In compiling documents for the book, the author may have run across the restaurant you are looking for but just didn't include it. Perhaps you can contact her. 3. Hi Linda; Remembering that you are not subscribed to Ancestry, I looked at all their listings and did not find a Thomas DeCamp or an Edith, however there are some DeCamp families living in Napa Valley at the time - and one lived in Yount which is just north of Napa city. So, putting on my moth-eaten cap, I am wondering whether anyone at the Napa County Historical or Genealogical Societies in Napa can help with this one? Worth a try anyway. Also thinking about Union Station - and where the railroad ran then and still runs now, it might be where the Wine Train station is in Napa - well, that would be east of the town of Napa, but then it might have been considered north at that time. Follow the train tracks today - they still exist. 1. [NORCAL] Bosler, Sears in Sac
    2. Betty Loose
    3. The Sacramento Bee did not start until 1857. I did find these, possibly related, in the earlier years: Amos Bosler died 20 Oct 1857 S. Bossler married (date not listed) in the 14 Jan 1859 issue Simpson Bossler died 26 Oct 1861 I did not find the "Separate property...Sole Trader"" book. I think it might be in the Sacramento Room, and I did not get a chance to get there last night. In the West Coast marriage book I found (in addition to Elizabeth & John) Fanny Schwartz M. Charles Keyser Apr 16 1858 in Nevada George Swarts married M.E. Sears Sac A-111 1855 (not sure what the A-111 is) I looked through the Sacramento Union, Aug and Sep 1852, for a legal notice regarding Sole Trader issue, but didn't find any mention. I very well may have missed it. I did, of course, find the marriage of Miss Elizabeth Sears and J.W. Bosler. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Betty

    3. Many things on Ancestry are BADLY transcribed - perhaps that is the case. I have made many corrections; once my correction needed further correction because it was not done right and I was UNable to make a second correction. I'm half tempted to unsubscribe for a year or two, then see if it has improved.
