Translated from 'Nordmændene i Amerika' by Martin Ulvestad, 1907. Saunders County The first, or at least one of the first, Norwegians in this county was Edward A. Brødbøll, who settled at Wahoo in 1869. About the same time the Steen family settled there. Brødbøll, who now runs a bank in Lindsay, Nebr. is well known in the State as a financier whereas the Steen brothers are best known for the Civil War days. The first Norwegian to hold public office in the county was Henry Anderson, he was elected Treasurer in 1878.
