    3. Translated from 'Nordmændene i Amerika' by Martin Ulvestad. 1907. Stevens County H. O. Berg from Trysil was the first to settle in the vicinity of Clayton where there is a small Norwegian settlement. He came there in 1889. Next after him came Paul Olsen, also from Trysil, as well as Martin Olsen, Ole Nelson and Martin Iversen. Pastor T. H. Tønnesen of The Norwegian Synod established a congregation at that place in 1891. This (Trysil) congregation built a church in 1902. It is to be hoped that the congregation will not allow itself to be split.
