Hello Margit and Vivian: 1. I was rushed and didn't make the point in my earlier note. The birth information tells that all Ole Knudsen and Anne Kristine Torkildsdatter's children were born in Einersmoe, Nord Audnedal/Undals. Here in 1865 sister Karen Gurine Olsen is Tjenestepige at Einersmoe. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f61028&gardpostnr=69&sokefelt=skjul 2. Here is the birth of Ole Torjesen: Navn: Torgius Døpt; 7 Jun 1790 Far: Ole Torgiusen Mor: Guri Andaarsdatter Sted: Teland. Witnesses: Salve Joensen Teland, Joen Torjiusen Hegland, Erik Andorsen Ougland, Aase Olsdatter Teland and Giellu Torgiusdatter Hegland. Siblings: Kari 12 Aug 1787 at Teland. Born at Hægland: Andor 2 May 1792. Gunvor 17 Aug 1798. Joen 1 Aug 1802 and Gundvor 2 Jan 1807. Note: Gunvor born in 1798 must be named Gunvor Karen or Karn Gunvor and she is probably the 2 year old Karen Olsen in the 1801 Census at Hægland. That's about all I have on these people, except here are the two Ole Knudsens who fit to be the father of Knud Olsen who married Anne Kristine Torkellsdatter. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11029&gardpostnr=223&sokefelt=skjul http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11029&gardpostnr=23&sokefelt=skjul Hope this has been of some help. Hope it helps. 1. Here is Søren Olsen and Anne Marie Torjusdatter in the 1865 Census in Mandal. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f61002.wc2&gardpostnr=179&sokefelt=skjul 2. This must be them in 1900, though the ages are off slightly, which is normal. And her name isn't her maiden name, but Nylund. # 2 and # 3 http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f01002&gardpostnr=207&sokefelt=skjul 3. This must be Anna Kristine Torchildsdatter, though I can't prove it. She is the only one of that name in the area. # 4 She married Ole Knudsen, if indeed this is the right Anna. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11029&gardpostnr=119&sokefelt=skjul 4. Again a stretch, but this may be the Torje Olsen and his father Ole Torjesen of # 6 and # 12. This is the only one of the right age group with a father named Ole Torjesen in Valle [Sør Audnedal.] http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11029&gardpostnr=202&sokefelt=skjul On page 180 of The Sør Audnedal book under Gaard Number 60, Nyland bnr 1, it says: "Torgie Olsen kjøpt garden i 1855 , men han døyde aaret etter, Han var gift med Anna Severine Martinsdatter. His father was Mikal Mikkelsen Skofteland 1809 - 1895, who married widow Anne Serine Mortensen . lists children] Obviously the same Anne Serine/Severine/Sorine Martinsen/Mortensen. 5.Here is the 1801 Census for Werdahl with Morten Olsen (#14), his father Ole Mortensen and his mother Anna Sørensdatter. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11034.wc2&gardpostnr=92&sokefelt=skjul 6. This is the Torbor Fridricksdatter in the 1801 Census who later marriedMorten Olsen Werdahl born 1776. Torbor was born about 1783 so would be close to the age to marry Morten. Her parents are present and correct. In Bjelland parish. http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f11024.wc2&gardpostnr=112&sokefelt=skjul For whatever it is worth, this is what I could find. My ancestor Friderick Frantz had a child , Friderica Friderichdtr in 1783 with Mother Ingeborg Simonsdtr. Place MALMO,MANDAL,Vest-Agder,NORWAY. Need advice on Military records, I understand that some soldiers used "Soldiers Names" assigned by the Army. Would this be Danish or Swedish or Norwegian Army or "Triple Crown ? Hi Roberta, No he is not there. I checked all variables. I would suggest trying the lookups in St. Louis County Minnesota in the book that all counties put out after WWI. I do lookups here for Polk County and Norman County of Minnesota in my books. I was looking for George Mattila, but wasn't having any luck. I know he was in WWI. Birth date is 12/8/1899. I think part of the problem is that what I'm seeing is where they were registered, not their place of residence. How did you check for Minnesota when it doesn't pull up - by birthplace? Perhaps MN did not have a place to register. Only one Mattila pulls up born in MN whether you do it by exact spelling or Soundex. The other spellings are way off. I have come across a brother of Reinert Tobiassen from Kinnungsland, Lyngdal. Teodor Tobiassen, born 1859, married to Anne Kristine Eriksen (Edvardsdatter), born 1859 in Mandal. They are in 1900 on Borøya in Dybvåg, Aust-Agder, where also the father and a brother of Anne Kristine had settled.
