Mrs. Johanna Rikhus Benson Mrs. Johanna Rikhus Benson died on 1st of December in Marshville, Wash. She was a daughter of Anders Rikhus and his wife Kari and was born in Sondre Fron Gudbrandsdalen the 29th of June 1863. She emigrated in 1880, she was 17 years old when she came to Amerika. She first came to Lake Park, Minn where she was married to Knud Benson (Killand) from Egedal, Sigdal, Norway. Soon after their marriage they moved to Audubon, Minn, where they were lived for 16th years. In 1900 Mr. Benson took a homestead in Balfour, N.D., where his family came in 1901. Benson died in 1907. They went then to Balfour, where she lived till 1937, when she went to Marshville, Wash with her daughters. Her children born: Alfred and Elmer in Butte, Montana; Bennie in Wildrose, N.D.; Edward, Scobey, Montana; Clara, Seattle, Wash; and (Emelia), Mrs. C. Sanrud; (Lulu) Mrs. D.J. Olson, (Cora), Mrs. R.L. Potel i Marshville, Wash. She had 3 brothers: Anton Rikhus, Twin Valley, Minn; Hans and Ole Rikhus, Balfour, N.D. There are 12 grandchildren and 3 ggrandchildren. Funeral is Thursday the 4th of December from O.J. Olson's home where she died and from the Lutheran Church. Pastor Raymond Halvorsen, Marshville, presiding., assisted by Pastor and Mrs. Erickson. Dear Margit: The Knud Benson from Eggedal you mention ,could this be Knut Bjornson, born 28 Apr 1851 on Raenset / Nyhus farm, came to wisc in 1858 and then to Freeborn co, MN in 1860 and to Polk Co, MN in 1880 [last name became Benson when his father changed his first name from Bjorn to Ben in about 1878 ? ] Parents Bjorn Erickson, b. 8 Oct 1818 and Kristi Olsdatter, b. 1821 Roysland??
