Sel By ordinance of 6.12.1737 "Breden-Bygden" was divided between Vågå and Fron clerical district such that farm nos. 177-189 in Nord-Fron was added to Fron prestegjeld, while farm nos. 198-204 and 208 in Sel were added to Vågå clerical district. By royal resolution 17.12. 1909 effective from 1.1. 1910 Vågå clerical district was divided in two: Vågå and Sel clericaldistricts. Vågå consisted of Vågå head parish, while Sel clerical district consisted of Sel and Heidal parishes. Official business before 1.1. 1910 must therefore be sought in the Vågå parish office. By royal resolution 10.4.1964 effective from 1.1.1965 the following properties were transferred from Vågå kommune to Sel kommune: farm no. 1 subfarms 5-6, 10-13 and 23, parts of farm no. 1 subfarms 5 and 10. At the same time the Sjoa area was transferred from Nord-Fron kommune to Sel kommune.
