Hi Linda, My grandfather Peder came to the U.S. in 1885 when he was 16 years old. His brother, Martin, came a couple of years later and the rest of the family came in 1893. The family story for Karl is that he fell into a bucket of very hot water and suffered burns. They supposedly scraped raw potatoes to put on the burns as a treatment.
