Hi, Although I've never heard of Looney Valley/Looneyville before, my great, great grandpa Haaken Oliver Olsen Opsalstuen Tangen Myer (b. April 30, 1849) left Ø. Toten - Oppland, Norway & settled in Fillmore County, Minnesota (which is only a few miles away from the Houston County border). As a matter of fact, some of the family's land ended up being in Houston county. I haven't had time yet to write to this list, but I'd like to find more information out about my Haaken's father, Ole Andersen. Haaken's mother was Berthe Marie Halvorsdatter Opsalhagen Rustad-eie (b. January 30, 1826) and I have information about her & the birth dates of her parents, but that is about it. I believe Haaken's father lived on the Skullerud farm in Hoff parish. I am also VERY interested in finding information about a man named Olaus Kristiansen Tangen (b. November 02, 1843). His father was Christian Olsen Halvorsrud Skullerudeie & mother was Anne Evensdatter Sønsteby-eie. This Olaus married my Haaken's mother (a long time after Haaken was born). He was not much older than Haaken! I'm almost POSITIVE this Olaus was related to Haaken by blood because they look like they are brothers or cousins. Is there anyone who has bygdebokers for that area? Thanks everyone!
