Sorry about the lack of information. My mind got ahead of my fingers. I would like to know where the farm Engeset is located, especially in relation to the Skarlien farm. I know Eli and her husband Christian Oleson - sometimes called Christian Oleson Opsal married 28 May 1855 in Torpa. I would like to know the dates of birth for her parents - Syver Sorensoen and Guri Nielsdatter. I would also like to know if she had any brothers and sisters, their names and when they born. Eli Syversdatteer Engesith/Engeset was born 9 Nov. 1834. I have a note from someone that in 1864 the famly moved from Torpa, Land to Overhalla, a little east of Namsos, north of Trondheim. I do not know if this is where they were living when they emigrated to the United States. Thank you for your help - Mary Ann
Hei Mary Ann, Did they have two daughters named Hanna and Marie before 1865? If so, here they are in Overhalla in Nord Trondelag in the 1865 census of Norway. Says they were both born in Lands Prjg. <http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f6174 4&variabel=0&postnr=1392&fulle=true&spraak=n> Do you know when they emigrated from Norway? Have you found them leaving Norway? The more information you give, the more we can help. :-)) Margit > > Sorry about the lack of information. My mind got ahead of my fingers.
