Good morning Margit Thanks for the birth record. My thoughts were to obtain a marriage record, but you picked up on one of my questions that I was going to ask after I found my way around this genealogy helpmate. Are you able to obtain the birth records for Julius`s brothers and sisters all of whom I believe were born in Lillehammer also? I have the date or partial date of birth for all but two of them. I do not want to make too much work, but your fast response is great, and I would like to complete as much as I can on Julius`s siblings. I will list them all in case you are able to locate the birth records. Thanks very much for this great resource. Hello Earl, I found some of them. You can go to the site and check for yourself also. I may have missed some. You may have to search various ways to find them, as the parents names were not always spelled the same. Choose Fåberg. http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/nkb.asp Click on the flag for english. Be sure you print them out. Margit > > Good morning Margit > > Thanks for the birth record. Hi Margit Sorry for the problem. Thanks for the online dictionary. I found all the words I needed to decipher the birth and confirmation records. Interesting reading. One had been vaccinated for smallpox. There was one word that I could not find which might be of some interest as my great grandfather used the name of Steen in his later life. The word is Skorsteensfeier. Would that have anything to do with the place in Lillehammer where Johannes Larsen worked as a chimney sweeper? I am relaying a copy of one of your reply`s to me with the appropriate info attached. You found all of the names in the Oppland County Archives, but my new information has it that Johann Johannesen is really Johanna Johannesdatter. The other name would be one I found in some of the birth records for other siblings. Her name is shown as Lisabet Johannesen. Their parents were Johannes Larsen and Christine Olsdatter. There were not birth dates, but I suspect that they were born around the period 1847 to 1867. Hope this straightens things out. Thanks very much. Hi Earl, You will maybe need to order the films for that area and go through them. The two children could have been born elsewhere also. Margit The word is > Skorsteensfeier. Would that have anything to do with the place in > Lillehammer where Johannes Larsen worked as a chimney sweeper? According to my 1895 Ordbog, it means Chimney Sweeper, it is spelled the same as your spelling also. > I am relaying a copy of one of your reply`s to me with the appropriate > info attached. Hi, Are there any books for Ostre Toten? I am interested in an Iver Larsen f.1844 who is living on the farm in 1865 and if it says anything about him. I find him here in 1865: <http://draug.rhd.isv.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=bosted&ftaar=1865&sp raak=engelsk_britisk&kommnr=0528&kretsnr=0006&bostnr=0064&leilnr=000> Census year: 1865 Municipality: Østre Toten Municipality number: 0528 Name of domicile: Rustad nedre med Igelsrud væstre Thanks, Margit
Toten doesn't yet have many bygdeboker with gaardshistorie. Eina sokn of Kolbu prestegjeld does have one. There is also a bygdebok for Totenvika, but I'm not sure what it consists of Totenvika is a chapel in Balke prestegjeld. I have been struggling for months trying to figure out the divisions of Toten. I find it very confusing as prestegjeldene and kommuner have the same names, sokner were transferred form one prestegjeld to another, sokner were made into prestegjeldene, etc. I finally have received an answer that sets me straight on the prestegjeldene and sokner as they are fond in the Toten of today. I haven't bothered much with the kommuner. By Østre Toten are your referring to the kommune or the prestegjeld? It might also be helpful to try and find if Rustad is still a part of Østre Toten today-there were so many re-alignments ad re-namings that it could easily now be a part of something else. I have been told that the next Toten bygdebok to come out will be for Raufoss. Regards, Garth Margit wrote: > Hi, > Are there any books for Ostre Toten? Would writing to the Toten Museum answer questions? This is their address: Toten Museum, Postboks 10, 2858 Kapp, Norway. I know Arne Amundgård used to be good at answering questions there, a few years ago. Betty Rockswold Garth Ulrich wrote: > > Toten doesn't yet have many bygdeboker with gaardshistorie.
