    3. For Gwen Newborg, There is a great site for Traill County, North Dakota research. It is under Rootsweb. There is census images, marriage records, pioneer names and more. I have tons of relatives/ancestors in that county. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ndtraill/ Renae Larson Phoenix, AZ NOR-OPPLAND-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > >NOR-OPPLAND-D Digest Volume 03 : Issue 107 > >Today's Topics: > #1 [Oppland] Sor-Fron Parish ["Earl Reep" <ereep@whidbey.net>] > #2 Re: [Oppland] Sor-Fron Parish [Margit <margit@eot.com>] > #3 Re: [Oppland] Welcome to the Oppla ["Gwen" <genewborg@comcast.net>] > #4 [Oppland] Anthon Arnesen of Ringeb ["Peter J. I'm looking for information on my grandmother's family. Her name was Anna Molstad Newborg, and until just two weeks ago, we all thought she was from Honefoss, so I've been on the Buskerud list. I was just able to go thru a suitcase my cousin had in her basement and found a treasure trove of information about her. She was really born in Gran, Hadeland, Norway. Among the items I found were her vaccination record from 1866 with her parents names, which we also had wrong. Their names were John Johannesen and Ingeborg Olsdatter. My grandmother was born in 1861 and she had two brothers, Ole and Christian, and three sisters, Julie, Karen and Johanna. Thanks to Margit I was able to find their baptism records on line so I could get dates and godparents. Thru obituaries I found that Johanna came to Traill County, Dakota in 1877, and married an Anders Gunstad in Hillsboro, North Dakota in 1881. The rest of the family seems to have followe! d! >, my grandmother coming in 1882. Johanna had 9 children and lived most of her life in St. Hilaire, Minn. Karen married someone named Enger and lived in Lanesboro, Minn., at least in 1943, and Julia, who married an A. Hagen and lived in "Valhalla" Saskatchewan. I can't find a Valhalla in Saskatchewan currently, if anyone has heard of it, I'd appreciate any information. >My grandmother met her future husband in North Dakota, I think in Traill County, although his family lived in Buffalo, North Dakota for a while before moving west to Washington State. Her husband's name was Andrew (Andreas) Sypriansen Newborg, from Rødenes, Ostfold, Norway and they married in Seattle in 1889, and eventually moved to Yakima Washington. They had 7 seven children, including my father, Harold Newborg. >Although I've been looking for information about her for months, I only found this information in the last few weeks. I now have so much I haven't had time to put it in my computer! If anyone has any information about this family, I'd love to hear about it. I think I must have a ton of cousins in Minnesota and North Dakota I never knew existed before this Sept. > >Gwen Newborg, >Portland, Or >Webshots photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/gnewborg101 > >______________________________ > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Subject: > [Oppland] Anthon Arnesen of Ringebu and Minnesota > From: > "Peter J. It didn't seem terribly likely. I'm wondering if it's a retirement home for old Norwegians! I'm going to try the older Canadian census's and also see if I can find out where she got married so I can find out her husband's name. >Gwen Newborg, >Portland, Or >Courtney, Extra-special Lhasa Apso >Sandy, Extra-special Pembroke Welsh Corgi >Mork, Mindy, Max, super cats > >Webshots photos: http://community.webshots.com/user/gnewborg101 > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Garth Ulrich" <gulrich@sasktel.net> >To: <NOR-OPPLAND-L@rootsweb.com> >Sent: Monday, October 06, 2003 4:05 PM >Subject: [Oppland] Re: Valhalla, Saskatchewan > > >I do not know of a Valhalla in Saskatchewan, and none is listed on the National Archives of Canada website database of past and present post offices.
