I have ancestors from three areas of Oppland: 1. Jevnaker in Hadeland. They left from Gjørve (Jørve), a cottar under Sogn. Other farms in Hadeland are: Kjørve, Bolken, Ballangrud, Bratval, Gunstad, and more. The immigrants were Jorve or Jerve in Minnesota. 2. Valdres area, mostly from Nord Aurdal, the Rye farm but also Rugnos, Graneim/Granum, Kulturstad, Revling, Sundem, plus others there and in Slidre (Semelenge), Sør Aurdal (Øyhus, Olmhus). The immigrants were Rear in Wisconsin and Minnesota. 3. Gudbrandsdal, Ringebu from the very early 1800's: Høystad, Kleven, Kolstad. My gggrandfather moved to Nord Trøndelag and my grandfather emigrated from Nordland. Of the family in Jevnaker, my great grandfather had several nephews and a niece who emigrated to New York State and used the patrynomic name Borgersen there--children of Borger Gundersen and Sigrid Eriksdtr. If this sounds familiar to anyone on the list, I would love to hear from you! Thanks, Joy
