I have noe evidence, only circumstantial. 1. I have never heard any mentioning of a farm or place called Grufter in Sør Fron 2. Pronounced and written, Graffer/Grufter is not too far apart. 3. There is only one Graffer farm in Sør Fron, The same farm name can also be found in Lom. 4. In the year 1322 the farm name is written Grafyriu. In the 1801 Census it is listed that Graffer has 4 tenant farmers(Husmenn), Peder Hansen could be one of them. In the1865 Census this number was reduced to one, namely Grafferhaugen. This one and the other 3 are long disappeared. Some history: Graffer is supposed to be very old. The meaning of the name Graffer is not known. There is one old burial Mound on the farm, and old tools and veapons dated back to approx year .500 have been found there. The farm Graffer was the property of Sør Fron rectory until it became the headquarters for the military Commanders of Fronske Company in1808. Many military Commanders stayed there between 1808 and 1878. Most of them in the rank of Captains. The genealogy of the Farm until 1808 is very unclear. All this information is collected from Hovdhaugen: Gardar og slekter i Fron.
