I had the date of birth from my family tree, the name Monsen is on her and my grandfather's marriage license. When I first started doing a family tree I could not find her any where under the name of Monsen so in questioning my Mother she told me to look under the name of Gunderson because my grandmother had been adopted. I did find an Anna Gunderson in my searching who had the same info that I had on my grandmother. Now I have been given paper work from a cousin showing that her last name when she came to the US was listed as Munsen. I found the ship that this Anna Munsen came to America on it was called the Taormina, which left from Hamburg, Germany, she is listed on her Ellis Island records as Prussian. I am new to this searching and it seems that I am not doing a very good job since I found all this information on a person who I thought was my grandmother and then to find out she isn't. In looking at the passenger list of! the Taormina she is listed as coming to America with her whole family and according to what I have been told she came either by herself or with a sister, I do know that she was only 16 when she came to the US.
