Ancestry.com is not a website search which has much original information on Norwegian genealogy and I would not recommend using it to find WHERE in Norway places actually were. Your finding of the wedding at FamilySearch.org is a good step. The information it gave was a summary of the information given on the original record. FamilySearch is working very hard to create an INDEX of vital records from all over the world, not necessarily a complete record. These readings of the original records are done entirely by volunteers and some have more experience with Norwegian than others and they have already built a HUGE index of Norwegian vital records for births, marriages and some deaths -- not everything yet but it is a very admirable effort. But you can take the information found in their index and use that to make a search of the online scanned original records much much easier for yourself. It gave you an exact date and a pretty good estimation of location - considering that Kvikne and the two parts of old Fron had undergone boundary changes in that time period. Clark gave you a link to the scanned image of the original marriage record in a reply above. Take a careful look at it. You can use it with the following excellent article about Norwegian church records. Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site - http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html Then read again those links to the online instructions for using the Digitalarkivet scanned church records I mentioned in an earlier posting in reply to your query on the Oslo message board concerning Christian Larsen Hagen but have just updated below. You could practice by searching for the marriage and confirmation records Clark has already provided. Having known dates and places make beginning searches much easier. Just the marriage record and the confirmation record do not give enough information about the parents yet. But having some idea of WHEN each of the couple were born will get you much closer to finding their birth records and therefore probably finding the best record with information about parentage. -------------------------- The Digitalarkivet web site has been adding scanned images of the original Norwegian parish church records for anyone with Internet access since November 2005. The Digitalarkivet web site - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar An English option is available by clicking on that word from either the left hand column or the blue link bar along the bottom of the homepage. The scanned images are available from the homepage link "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] which is listed along the left hand column and from the blue banner of links along the top section of the homepage. Clicking on "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] will bring up another screen and listing to choose from. Choose "Lesa skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Read the digitised parish records" [English version]. After you've clicked on that link and a new main page has presented on the screen be sure and read the instructions that are available from the Digitalarkivet for navigating the scanned records. The instructions are available in Bokmål (official Norwegian), Nyorsk (Norwegian), Davvisámegiella (Saami), and English. Recommended basic reading are the "Startsiden" [Norwegian version]/"Main page" [English version], "Brukerveiledning" [Norwegian version]/"User's guide" [English version] and "Om tjenesten" [Norwegian version]/"About this service" [English version].
