    3. Barb My Ragnild Olsdatter was an Olsdatter Rudi and was born 1804 on Rudi Dalen farm, died Aug 18 1883, married Peder Christiansen in 1829. As I don't know the parishes or locations of the farms in relation to one another I am not sure if they match. I have been looking for a map that would show the location of the farms and a good english - Norwegian dictionary so I could have a better idea of where and what, when places and words need to be translated . Hope this has been a help. 3. Jean, Thanks for your response. Sorry for the senior moment and not sending the needed information. His name was Ole T. Olsen, he was born in 1873 in Sordorp. His father was Ole Johannsen who worked on the Lunde Store farm and his mother was Mari Johannesdtr who was Husmk. med Jord on the Tommesstuen farm in the 1875 census. My grandfather's grandparents owned the Granmorken farm and I have information on that from the Bygdebok - Gardar og Slekter I Fron by Einar Hovghaugen. My grandfather and grandmother supposedly homesteded in McHenry County North Dakota for about 20 years then moved to Pierce County just south of Barton where they both lived until they died, he in 1945 and she in 1953. Although I have a great deal of information I also have a great many missing pieces. Thanks for any help you might provide. > [Original Message] > From: Jean Marthaler <marwendt@astound.net> > To: <NOR-OPPLAND-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 11/1/2003 9:13:40 PM > Subject: RE: [Oppland] Genealogy Questions. > > Roger, if you send the information you know about your grandfather such > as his name, age, parent's names etc. to the List we can possibly give > you more help. 3. Margit, My grandfather came to the United States from Sordorp, Oppland County in 1893. I am trying to determine: What ship brought him from Norway? Where did he leave from? Did any other family members come with him? He eventually arrived in Otter Tail County Minnesota around Parkers Prairie and met my grandmother Carrie Peterson. They were married in 1900 and moved to North Dakota but I don't know whether they were married before they went to ND or after they arrived. Any suggestions on where I might run down this information? Roger Phillips jingles02@earthlink.net Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.

    3. Dear Renae and Margit : Fingal Enger married my widowed g grand mother in 1875 .Gjertrud Persdatter Nyhus had two children at the time by her first huband, Olaus Nilson [ Enger ] my grand father ,born 30 Nov 1870 Freeman TWP, Freeborn co, Mn, died in ND 1944 and Caroline Nildatter born after her fathers death in 1872. She died from deptheria in 1881 and like most of the family is buried in Little Forks Luth Cem. Gjurtruds first huband was Nils Oleson, Aaberg, from Nord Aurdal, Oppland , Norway. He was born 12 April 1850 and came to Holden TWP, Goodhue CO, MN in April 1859 with his parents ,Ole Nelson ,Braten [born 1815] and Sigri or Sarah Syversdatter,Aaberg [born 1815 ], In Dec 1865 they moved to Freeborn Co, Freeman twp ,Section 30 ,MN. After the death of their only son ,they sold their farm and from here i have run into a "brick wall'. What i would like to find out is : [1] In 1880 census Caroline was not living with her Mother and step father and had not changed her name to Enger like her brother. She was living with her grand parent Peder and Kari Nyhus any ideas ?.[2] Nils Oleson is said to have died, age 22, by drowning in a well he was digging. Is this right? [3]What happened to Ole and Sarah Nelson after they sold their farm in 1872 ?[4] Where and when did they die ?. Please let me know if you have any answers . 3. Hei all, There is an annual Lutefisk Feed at Almont, ND this weekend. I heard they ordered 875 lbs of Lutefisk. It is the best feed around. They also serve Meatballs and mashed potatoes and the works. It is served "Family Style", which means all you can eat for your buck! Don't know the prices this year, but has usually been $10 a head. I will be there working all day. Margit

    3. Hei Ken, This is the only family I find leaving from Nord Aurdal in your time frame that fits with information given by you: Would you have more information maybe? It does help to give all information you know. Margit Digitalarkivet: Migrants from Valdres 1816-67. 3. Ken, List exactly where they came from in Oppland and all their children with birthdates and where they lived in the USA. Why do you say Aaberg or Braten? List all you know about them in Norway. How do you know they came over in 1859? What names did they use when they came to America or left Norway?? If he (Ole) bought land, he had to get Naturalized. Was Nils born in Norway?? America?? You need to give all information known and sources of your information. Have you found any of them in the 1880 Federal Census? What names did you find them under in the 1860 and 1870 census? Did you check the 1875 census? Nils and Gjertrud had 2 children......where? Minnesota? Iowa? North Dakota? Margit > > Ken, > If Nils died in 1870, how did he have a child in 1872? > Margit > > Dear Margit: I have been searching for a long time trying to find out where > and when my great grand parents , > Ole Nelson, Aaberg or Braten [born 22 Feb 1815, married 6 Nov 1842 > Sigri or Sarah Syversdatter, Aaberg, born 2 Oct 1815, died . > > They left Norway in April 1959 and are listed in 1860 Census, Goodhue Co, > Holden TWP, Mn.
