    3. I do not know the port from which they departed. Since they were from Sondre Land, my guess is that it might have been Christiania and not Trondheim. Since many of them landed in Quebec, that port would be of interest however it could have been a port in the US. I only know the date was 1853. Thanks for your help. It isn't unusual to see errors in age of several years (+/-) in any given census and from census to census. However, the date of enumeration for Nil's census information is as follows: 1900 census - June 11, 1900 (age 34, born around 1866) 1910 census - August 18,1910 (age 42, born around 1868) 1920 census - January 13, 1920 (age 53, born around 1867) Is there any information here that holds clues about Nils Royne for someone familiar with Norwegian genealogy? 3. I expect this is your Anne Amundsdatter (Amundsen), born 21 Aug 1842, christened 16 Oct 1842 in Sor Fron, Oppland, to Amund OLSEN and Anne OLSDATTER. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=tr The only 'CLOSE' match I can find for Paul (Poul) Amundsen is this: born 13 Nov 1836, christened 11 Dec 1836 in Sodorp, Oppland, to Amund PEDERSEN and Barbroe POULSDR. (Sodorp OR Søthorps is a local parish in Nordre Froens.) Here (http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe) you will find TWENTY men with the name of Amund Pedersen, of which only THREE are old enough to be Paul's father. There is no Barbroe and Amund match in the 1865-telling. If you have other history on Randine Amundsen, you might find names in this site to match. For example, in this list (http://snipurl.com/x2n4), Amund PEDERSEN is listed as the brother of Christofer, who is listed as the 'brugeren's father; the brugeren is listed as Peder Christofersen. They were on the Evensrud Farm. Paul was born 1836 and Anne 1842. Would like to know when they were married, names of Paul Parents, and when he died? Anne and sons came to America at various times 1890-1902. I think Paul is my great-granmother Randine Amundsons uncle, but need further information. Thank you for any help that can be provided.

    3. I completely agree. So the Roine / Royne connection must have come later in Nils's life (i.e., farm hand). None of those was expected to be a match for the 'baby' Nils. Without the date correction for the christening, it was sitll possible that the child wasn't born until shortly after the 1865 census - therefore I wanted to consider all the possible father candidates and look at the farms where they were residing. > > A child born in 1865 would be recorded as age 1 in the Norwegian census of 31 Dec 1865. Given the matches to both the father and mother that the original poster presented - consider again the family living on Vigen. > http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=10&filnamn=f60544&gardpostnr=129&sokefelt=skjul
