Re marriage between relatives. According to my information it was prohibited for relatives closer than 2nd cousins after 1599. But it was still possible to petition for dispensation directly to the King. For a fee, of course. In 1771 a new regulation came into effect where 1st cousins were permitted to marry without petitioning. This regulation was in force until 1775, where cousins again had to petition for marriage. But after 1800 this regulation was cancelled and it was again permitted to marry cousins. -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] På vegne av Dean C Hagen Sendt: 28. oktober 2006 20:12 Til: [email protected] Emne: Re: [Opp] Peder Olsen Toftehagen Thank you Ola for your information, I appreciate it. After looking a bit further it is more likely that the groom mentioned below is Peder Olsen, born May 2. 1816 in Sør Fron to father Ole Larsen Oedegaardstuen under Oden and mother Guro Pedersdatter. This could be the couple mentioned under Nord Fron in the 1856 Census http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=27&filnamn=f60518&gardpostnr=203&personpostnr=1254&merk=1254#ovre Since cannot find them under S.Fron. So, Your Peder Olsen remains a mystery. I cannot find him in the emigration lists, nor in the Census lists or list of deceased before 1900. By the way, the farm Grufter mentioned in your web site. Could this be Graffer? http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=44&filnamn=f60519&gardpostnr=276&merk=276#ovre Rgds Ola Morken -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] På vegne av Dean C Hagen Sendt: 28. oktober 2006 20:12 Til: [email protected] Emne: Re: [Opp] Peder Olsen Toftehagen Thank you Ola for your information, I appreciate it. Father: Ole, Mother: Goro. There is a comment that the confirmation was held in Froen Hovedkirke (Sør Fron Kirke) in 1845 on the 4th Sunday after Trinitatis, June 15.1845 >From now it is getting difficult. I was able to find Anne Iversdtr Hole, who died 19 August, 1913 in Vaagaa, but I am having great trouble interpreting what is in some of the columns. Since I am hoping to see something about where she is from, I wonder what column 7 means, where the entry for Anne is: Hole I Skjaak. I believe that this is Mari's babtism: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Dopte&Post=25024 I find this marriage record from Lesja: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Ekteviede&Post=5226 This record confirms the data below regarding Peder. The age and names for Mari also fits. > He immigrated to > Wisconsin before 1850. Peder/Peter was known in the U.S. as Peter Ondell. You say "he emigrated", does that indicate that he came to the US alone? On searching for a possible emigration record, I stumbled upon a record which seem to indicate that Mari moved to Levanger in Nord-Trøndelag as a servant when she was 16. Look at this: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Utflyttede&Post=1051 So, it would seem that she came back to Lesja to marry, or maybe she just did not leave after all. Wonder where she met Peder, Levanger is north while Sel is to the south. And from the record showing Peder moving to Lesja he seem to have come from Sel. Maybe you can look at that puzzle? In 1817, I find the following, and since the farm name is right, I guess this is your Peder: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Dopte&Post=39278 This lists his birth to the 31st of August 1817, and his baptism to the 14th of 1817. The links are the digitised parish records for Vågå. The church is listed as Sel. You can also see the name of the parents, and the witnesses for the baptism. I have found the record which states that Peder is moving to Lesja: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Innflyttede&Post=259 If you look at the text in the bottom, it translates: To be married to the maiden Marith Præsteflagestad. Here the name is Marith and not Mari. In order to check that there was no other couple to choose from I looked up the following: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/nres.asp?PT=Ekteviede&Prgjeld=LES&Aar=&Pm=0 &Fornavn=Peder&Farsnavn=Pedersen&Bosted= and found that there is no other couple which match. > > He may have had a brother, John/Johan (Andreas?) Pedersen Aandahl that > lived in Christiansund prior to 1847, when he married Johanna Maria > Johanasdetter Lokke on november 16, 1847 in Trondheim. I believe that this Gulbrand Pedersen can be a brother of Peder: http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Dopte&Post=38965 And it would also seem that this Johannes is a brother. Could perhaps be your John/Johan? http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Dopte&Post=40104 Now, it may appear as your Peder has a brother that go by the same name but born in 1826. The names of the parents seem to fit. http://www.arkivnett.ol.no/dbsok/ndetal.asp?PT=Dopte&Post=40629 You should look more closely at these possible siblings before concluding anything. > > I am willing to share the extensive information on these people after > about 1850-60 in the U.S, including many descendents. > > Even the smallest clue will be welcome after 15 years of hunting. > Well, if you have been hunting for this for 15 years this proves that there is no such thing as giving up. You have the information on Peder and Mari. Now saddle up and go for their parents! John Morten Malerbakken > Richard C. Schumacher > [email protected] >

Clark in Japan ----- Our file number Q1-55148 Dear Mr. Pederson : In reply to your e-mail inquiry of 12 October concerning passenger lists, I wish to advise you that information about our passenger lists and how to access them can be found on our Canadian Genealogy Centre Web site www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy <http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy> under Sources by Topic: Immigration. Lists of microfilm reel numbers are provided. Unfortunately, as the records for the period of interest to you are not indexed by name, we cannot search them for you. Requests for loan must be submitted by the borrowing institution and must include the Library and Archives Canada microfilm reel number(s). Borrowing institutions equipped with a reader-printer are authorized to make copies of pages from our microfilm on behalf of their patrons. For your information and your library's convenience, details about our Interlibrary Loan service can be found on the following page on our Web site: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/ill/index-e.html A database will be available on our Web Site in the next few weeks to search our Passenger lists 1865-1922.
