Did I tell you that we found our family on my grandmother's side just recently? It was very exciting because there are 3 generations still living on the fossehagen farm near Hordorp in Son Fron. My youngest son is going to go visit them this summer and I am hoping they may know something about the Bratraaget's because they live nearby. I don't know where you live but if you live in the ringebu area, do you know Ole or Iver Fossehagen? their great grandfather is a brother to my great grandfather, Hans (Fossehagen) Pederson. I guess we will have to wait and hope with what little information we have helps. What makes it difficult is for example my father wasn't even born yet when his grandfather(Ole)died and it's that way with most of Ole's grandchildren. Basically what our family has to go on is Ole's birthday and his wife Anna's family information. As with most children I wish I had listened more to my Dad when he was alive. He didn't know probably alot either but I'm sure more than I do. A good lesson for future generations. Thank you again for the tips. Kathy

Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.scan-balt.norway.counties.oppland/3161.1.2.4.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I too am trying to find out about Ole Olsen Thon.Al and I share the same greatgrandfather. Ole was born 1-3-1836 and married Anna Haldorsdatter Steinset who was born 9-24-1847. Anna's parents were Haldor Erickson and Guri Amundsdatter Steinset from Etnedal,Oppland,Norway. They both died in N.D. and I have not found a death certificate for Ole. Now it becomes more confusing. I believe Ole and Anna came on the Caroline Bark ship in 1868. I also see a Ole Olsen Thon and Marit Henriksdatter and a few children were on the same ship. From postcards I have I believe that the two Ole's were brothers. The Ole that came with his family was born in 1833 and also settled in North Dakota. He also is listed in the 1865 census in Norway with the same names that came over on the ship but is on the Holen farm. It is one click back from the census that is believed to be our greatgrandfather Ole Olsen Thon. From what I understand from help from Norway Heritage is that my greatgrandfather's ! mother was listed as divorced. The question I also have is how would I find that out? That would probably make the two Ole's half-brothers?Would that also mean that there was three brother's named Ole Olsen. I was hoping someone from this confusing family would also be looking! Are our only hope the LDS or to wait for the new bydebok to be printed? I am a member of the Valdres Samband but they had no answers either.Any help would be so appreciated. Thank You Again. Still looking for answers-Kathy
