Thank you. I found that the other day on the Digital Archives. The sister of Thorvald I am trying to locate is listed in the "Faberg in Faberg 1879-1898" page 184 line 36. She was born on February 18, 1878. I think this is a link http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?show=182&uid=12593&urnread_imagesize=full&hode=nei&ls=1 Looking at this record, I guess the sister spells her name "Randine". Our family always spelled it "Randina". I would like very much to get in contact with members of her family. They are cousins to us. Thanks for your help. The Hestekind farm passed on to her brother Kristian Olsen Hestekind, then to his son Syver Kristian Hestekind. He had a son who only lived about a year 1938-1939. He then left the Hestekind farm to a foster son Svein Arve Hestekind. My blood line stops there, but the farm name continued. Marcia, I don't know about the farm Bjornsen may have come from, but here is a link that you provide you 'some' data on OLSTAD / OLSTADSVEEN farms and members. I don't consider this list ALL-inclusive for the Øyer region, but very comprehensive as it relates to the KALDOR farm and clan. "http://www.kaldor.no/oyergenealogy/" Click on SURNAMES at the top left side and go from there. If you use the SEARCH mode, be aware that LAST NAME is the farm name and may not always be shown. It is a fairly reasonable search engine, with several options. Keep in mind, however, that entries are not complete. So, if you search for a known birth date and THEY don't have it, you will come up short. Play with it; look at several entries and see what data is common, and HAPPY HUNTING! If I may be of help, let me know. I do have some OLSTAD / OLSTADSVEEN members from that region in my database. Øyer is the home of my paternal grandfather. Have a nice day! Hi List, I have an ancestor whose marriage record indicates he was at Olstad. One of their children was born at Aulstad. Have not found an Olstad farm on my map and so am wondering if Aulstad and Olstad are one and the same farms. And am I right to assume that this would have been the Aulstad farm of Bjornsen the writer. Thank you. Marcia Johnson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Thank you Gregory, I did locate several Sons of Norway lodges here in Florida (somewhat surprising to me). I may try one of those. Still looking for a college. Roger, If you are near a Sons of Norway lodge, you should be able to contact them and find someone who could help with the translation. Another option would be to find a university with a Scandanavian language department. Good luck!
