"http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=14&filnamn=f60818&gardpostnr=134&sokefelt=skjul" They have done some moving around, with Pauline born in Naes, and Mathea, Haagen and Peder born in vestre Toten. Peder appears to be the youngest at age 7, so he would have been born about 1859. And if Pauline is the oldest, she would have been born 1850, shortly after their marriage. 1. [Opp] MAANUM, Ole A. (1850-1937) & MAANUM, Maria SKOGEN (1856-1936) Obituaries
    2. Park Region Echo Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota Thursday, July 15, 1937 Page 7, col. 5. OLE A. MAANUM Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 6 at the Nora Lutheran church at Kensington for Ole A. Maanum, who died at his home in Kensington, Saturday, July 3. Mr. Maanum was born May 30, 1850 at Nordre Aurdahl, Norway. He immigrated to the United States in 1870 and lived at Dane county, Wis., until 1878 when he came to Minnesota. Mr. Maanum lived on a farm in Stevens county from 1878 to 1911 when he bought a farm in Pope county, Nora township. In 1930 Mr. Maanum retired and bought a home in Kensington where he lived until the time of his death. On June 5, 1876 Mr. Maanum was married to Maria Skogen, who preceded her husband in death Christmas Day, 1935. The deceased is survived by the following sons: Albert, residing on a farm in Stevens county; Hjalmar, [col. 6] residing on the home farm at Nora and Christ, who lives on a farm near Kensington. One daughter, Arline, who has faithfully cared for her mother and father, also survives. Four daughters and two cons have preceded their father in death. Rev. O. T. Haaland and Rev. B. G. Holmes of Hoffman officiated at the services. Miss Ethel Osberberg and Miss Ethel Stark, accompanied by Mrs. T. Thompson, sang vocal solos. Pallbearers were Otto, Leonard, Christen, Orville, Helmer and Albert Braaten. Mr. Maanum was a charter member of the Nora Lutheran church. He was a highly respected citizen, a good husband and father and a good neighbor. Many beautiful floral offerings were given and the family and friends gave $45 to the church in memory of Mr. Maanum. The many friends and relatives who came to pay their last respects to the deceased included the following from out of town: Dr. and Mrs. Norman Resford of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Swanson and Victor Ingens of Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs. L. Ormseth of Raymond. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wedum, Alexandria. Mr. and Mrs. John Hallett, Mrs. Josephine Ingens, Martin Ingens and Gilbert Moen of Glenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hovren, John and Emily Pearson of Morris. Mrs. Inga Maanum of Benson and E. Sletten of Elbow Lake. ---------------------------------------- The Alexandria Citizen-News Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota Thursday, January 9, 1936 Page 4, column 7. MRS. OLE MAANUM Mrs. Ole Maanum passed away at her home in Kensington Christmas day morning after a short illness, the cause of her death being heart trouble. Maria Skogen Maanum was born in Blue Mounds, Dane county, Wisconsin on November 14, 1856. On the 5th day of June, 1876, she was united in marriage to Ole Maanum. They resided in Blue Mounds until June, 1878, when they moved to Swan Lake, Stevens county, Minn., where Mr. Maanum took a homestead. They resided there until 1911, when they bought a farm in East Nora, Pope county, where they lived until five years ago, when they moved to Kensington, where they resided at the time of her death. Deceased is survived by her aged husband, one daughter, Oline at home, and three sons, Albert on the old homestead in Stevens county, Christ farming in Nora township and Hjalmer on the home farm in East Nora. Two sons and four daughters preceded here in death. She is also survived by three brothers in Wisconsin and one sister, Mrs. Oline Irgens in Glenwood; three grandchildren, Orlin and Pearl Maanum and Mrs. Virgil Stark all of Swan Lake. Funeral services were held from the home Saturday at 1 o’clock and at 2 o’clock from the Nora church, assisted by Rev. Vaage of Farwell, with interment at the church cemetery. Two beautiful solos were sung, one by Mrs. Dr. Lindy of Cyrus and one by Ed Olson of Nora. Mrs. Maanum was a member of the Nora church for over 50 years. She was also an active member of the Ladies’ aid. She was always kind and cheerful and will be greatly missed, not only by her dear ones at home, but by a host of neighbors and friends. The church was filled to capacity by those that came to pay their last respects to the departed. Beautiful flowers were laid on her casket as a token of love in which she was held. A sum of money was also given to missions by friends in Kensington, the Nora L. A. S., and other relatives of the deceased. Pallbearers were Anton, John, Olof and Martin Braaten, Martin Irgens and Helmer Hagen. Transcribed from microfilm copies of newspapers at Minnesota History Center, St. Paul, MN.

    3. Jeff, This must be the confirmation record you refer to - Kari Hansdatter, born 01 October 1836, parents Hans Andersen and Ingeborg Johnsdatter. Oppland county, Gran, Parish register (official) nr. 11 (1842-1856), Confirmation records 1851, page 736-737, entry #83 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8968&idx_id=8968&uid=ny&idx_side=-340 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070206610160.jpg It is a good possibility that this is your Kari... Regarding the 1865-telling, she was listed as 30 years old (on her next birthday). Because the census was enumerated at the end of the year, she would be 30 in 1866, putting her birth year at 1836. The next Kari Hansdatter I find is born 25 July 1839, living on ?Vieneie under Sorumseie?, parents are Hans Hansen and Mari Caspersdatter. Oppland county, Gran, Parish register (official) nr. 11 (1842-1856), Confirmation records 1855, page 766-767, entry #61 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8968&idx_id=8968&uid=ny&idx_side=-355 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20070206610175.jpg What is your source of information for a 13 September 1837 birth date? What details do you have surrounding your g-g-grandmother? The more you can tell us, the better our chances of helping you. Have a nice day! 2. That helps out a lot. I can strike this Kari off the list. Floyds Knobs, Indiana. I live just south of Louisville, Kentucky in Spencer County Kentucky. I am a native of Fern Creek, Jefferson, Kentucky. We moved out to Taylorsville Lake area around 1990. My wife spent part of her time in Borden, Indiana and still has two sisters that live in Borden and Salem, Indiana, but is a native of Spencer County Kentucky. My fathers side of the family is Norwegian and Swedish. My came from places like Gausdal, Oppland, Norway, Rakkestad, Ostfold, Norway and Steinjker, Nord Trondelag, Norway. The Swedish connection is from Kiaby, Kristianstad, Sweden. What I am trying to do is find all of the Branden Farms that are in Norway and see where she is from there. The story lines that have been given to me suggested that she might have come from Gran Parish. But we will see when the Parish Records go online. The name that was given to me was Kari Hansdatter Branden. Take care, Jeff ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Here, you will find PEDER and GUNILD (#2702 - 03) living on the HELGESTAD farm with their first son, Ole (#2704): "http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=5&filnamn=f10528&gardpostnr=135&sokefelt=skjul" Then I confirmed their marriage information here: "http://www.slektshistorielaget.no/Kilder/toten/databaser2/ViedeToten1794/index.html" Next, I looked for GUNILD's birth registration and found this - born to HANS HELGESTAD LILLE and his wife MARTE PEDERSDATTER ON 04 September 1774 in Toten: "http://www.slektshistorielaget.no/Kilder/toten/databaser2/DaapToten1772/index.html" In the subject line you give Peder's farm location as FJORKSTADENGEN. In your opening comment you give his birth location as HELGESTAD. In the marriage registration, it shows his residence as GIERSTAD. So, in searching for PEDER's birth, I look for him by searching for babies' names ONLY, starting with PE, as well as for all fathers' names starting with AND. NONE are connected to ANY of the above farm names during the period 1766 - 1772 (I also search 1772-1780 - same results). "http://www.slektshistorielaget.no/Kilder/toten/databaser2/DaapToten1766/index.html" Any suggestions? Peder is becoming a puzzle.
