    2. I provided you with direct information. I gave you the Parish Record and the Page and Category that it is on. If you do not want to help me then fine. I will figure it out for myself. Take Care and Happy Hunting with your Research. You are first person that I have dealt with that has had a problem with the way I provide the Information which I do not believe is confusing at all. So Take Care. Jeff ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    2. Why cant you just go to the Digital Archives and look at the pages as I describe them to you. You cannot look at the Links on this Message Board? I provided you or others with the Parish Record and the page that it is on. I thought this was the same thing? When someone provides me with a link. I cannot look at the pages that others look at. I go to the Digital Archives, so I guess I do not understand what the difference is. 3. Hi Clark! You're correct Thjem is a common abbreviation for Trondhjem/Trondheim. The term Nordenfjelds refers to all of Norway north of the Dovre mountains, notably Trøndelag. In other words where the only Norwegian civilisation exists. There were regiments called Nordenfjeldske regiments. Olaf My initial 'reaction' is that Thjem is a common abbreviation for Trondheim. And, while not positive, I think there is an area in/near Trondheim called Nordenfjelds. However, there also is a NORDFJELL in Eidskog, Hedmark. But I would suggest waiting for a response from someone locally. Have a nice day! Clark in Japan

    3. Jeff, It sure would be nice if you provided the permanent link to the page(s) you refer to. Then we can 'see' what you are querying and be in a better position to respond 'more quickly' to your question(s). My initial 'reaction' is that Thjem is a common abbreviation for Trondheim. 1. [Opp] Location and Clarification.
    2. The pages to look at are in Fron Parish Church Records in the Migration Section page 233 and 234. The first one, Anne is in the second column of names at number 3. It looks like Thjomo. The second one, Tora, is number 18 in the listing. It looks like Nordenfjelds. 2. Thanks anyway. I will look further in these directions. Sorry I did not put the page numbers down. It was so common in the Parish Records that I thought that the two destinations were common enough to not need the pages numbers. Where are they referring to. > Without seeing the records Thjem means Trondheim. It gets a bit more complicated when you refer to Tjomo as that could be the place called Tjømø today. That would be in the opposite direction to Vestfold. Nordenfjelds is a general term describing a huge number of possibilities. It could be anywhere north of Fron actually. Most probably somewhere north of the Dovre mountains and a guess would be in either Nordland, Troms or Finnmark. Whoever wrote this had no idea where she actually was, and probably also wrote it without her being present. Another possibility is that the writer simply forgot the details but remembered that it was somewhere in the north. John Morten

    2. I looked in the Fron Parish Church Records and found two sisters that left Fron for other destinations and need to know or a Clarification on where they went. Anne Halvorsdatter Branden on May 22, 1835 left Fron and went to Thjem or Thjomo. Is this Trondheim? Tora Halvorsdatter Branden on November 21, 1836 left Fron and went to place called Nordenfjelds. Where are they referring to. Understand that the locations may be spelled wrong. 3. .... these projects are in dire need of volunteers. Our only guideline is to complete an assignment in a reasonable time which is the call of the coordinator. In my case a month off to visit my daughter is considered reasonable :) Now if you are really interested in the records for Premay you could volunteer to transcribe them but the church records only start at 1718 and the further back you go the more difficult it is to decipher the writing and entries. A copy of the records as digital images is the media used for transcribing. As far as censuses go the 1841 census is the earliest one which names individuals. ref http://www.freereg.org.uk/parishes/abd.htm regards, moira > Now as far as Scottish census records. 3. ... I believe the bulk of transcribing/scanning the records is carried out by volunteers which is reason enough for me to be patient since the result is free access! I am currently transcribing Scottish census records for free access and I can assure you it is slow tedious work...These records are available online for a fee. 1. Re: [Opp] [Tronder] Digital Archives.
    2. Please do not get me wrong, I am not complaining. It is that the Counties that I am interested in were not filling up like the others and the fact that there have been issues with a few counties explain why it has taken longer for the Counties that I am interested in. I treat the idea of going to the Digital Archives as a treat and understand that there will be problems. I was just wondering how long it was going to take to finish the project. Now as far as Scottish census records. How far back in time will this project go. I would be interested in the early 1700's in Premnay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. 2. I am sending this to two different Mailing Lists. My Question is this, There is slightly under 9600 Records online. Does anyone have a rough guess as to how many more is left and when the projected end is coming for the records? I am still waiting, patiently for more records from Oppland and Sor and Nor Trondelag Counties to come up. It is like trying to see what else is under the Christmas Tree, when you were little.
