    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wd3.2ACIB/75.370.1 Message Board Post: Well if the Thomas Nolan you spoke of emigrated from Ireland in the early 20s say 1921 or 22 possibly even 1918 or 19, we might have a connection here. My great grandfather, Thomas Nolan, emigrated from Ireland in 21 or 22 but I don't have much info on his wife just that he was my grandfather's father and he came from Ireland when he was young. They did settle in the Philadelphia region. I believe I remember hearing about Thomas coming over with or joining with a brother James, once he got to this area. My grandfather resided in the Frankford section of Philadelphia on Worth St. Maybe we could pool our resources and figure out if we have some type of connection.

    3. Hmmm. Note that I found him, after much effort, because they misspelled his name on the Philadelphia Census, as they had him listed as "NOLEN" instead of "NOLAN". I know nothing of the Philadelphia area, so maybe you can tell me if this is near the Frankford section. Since it was 1850, though, things change quite a bit. Anyway, here is what I have from the census: Nolen, Patrick State: Pennsylvania Year: 1850 County: Philadelphia Roll: M432_822 Township: Southwark Ward 4 Page: 283 Nolen, Patrick, age 29, laborer, b. Ireland Nolen, Catherine, age 25, b. Ireland Nolen, Thomas, age 4/12, b. PA. Like I said, they moved to NYC sometime between 1850 and 1852, as their next born was John Francis, who was born in NYC December 1852. Then they moved to New Jersey in 1868--never heard any more about Philadelphia, but they had huge families...
